Miss District of Columbia’s Outstanding Teen 2012 Cate Dillon is a rising senior at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School where she has been on the honor roll for five semesters and received Outstanding Achievement in Math for her sophomore and junior years.
Cate is Editor-in-Chief of her school’s yearbook, a singer in the Georgetown Visitation Madrigals, has performed in six dramatic productions and is a member of Visitation’s Think Pink Society for breast cancer awareness.
Last summer she traveled to Peru on a service trip to work in an orphanage and it had quite an impact on her. She hopes to encourage other teens to follow their passions and become active in supporting their communities.
People might be surprised to learn that she has actually gone swimming with sharks and has gone dog sledding on a glacier in Alaska. But she will happily tell you that her best New Year’s Day celebration ever was when she got to water ski on a dolphin’s nose!
For Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization, Cate’s platform is Juvenile Diabetes Research and Awareness. She plans to continue supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Capital Chapter in serving the Washington DC area offering support and education as well as a variety of events throughout the year to raise funds for diabetes research.
After graduating from college and subsequently obtaining her MBA, Cate plans to be an entrepreneur and start her own business.
